Dr. Davenport grew up in northern Minnesota, and then attended Concordia University Chicago, where she earned bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and biology. She continued her education in Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry at the University of Iowa, where she earned a Ph.D. Her research there related to the toxicity of a molecule found elevated in the brain in Parkinson’s disease. After completing her doctorate, Dr. Davenport moved to Cincinnati, OH, where she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in toxicology, and then moved on to teaching at the undergraduate level. She now lives in Fort Smith, AR with her husband, Richard, a pastor, and her son, Paul.
In her spare time, Dr. Davenport loves to play board games with her family and friends, read, crochet, and play saxophone in her community band. She’s always up for the challenge of helping scholars and their families find a new board game to play. In all things, chemistry and otherwise, she loves finding the wonder of the order God has placed into His creation and using that order to solve problems.
